Equality Objectives

Equality Objectives
The IFR’s licensing regime will place obligations on football clubs from July 2027 to report on their plans to improve equality, diversity and inclusion. For this reason, the IFR wants to be transparent to the football sector on this and will proactively engage with industry groups focusing on EDI such as Kick It Out, Level Playing Field, and Women in Football. We have already engaged with such bodies in the development of our proposals on fan engagement and corporate governance.
As an employer, we value diversity, encourage inclusion and support staff wellbeing. We are a more effective regulator when we are truly representative of broader society. The Independent Football Regulator (IFR) is creating a diverse workforce and an inclusive workplace culture that allows people to be themselves at work and achieve their potential.
As a public body, we aim to eliminate discrimination and advance equality of opportunity, and we’re subject to the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). This means we must aim to:
· Eliminate discrimination;
· Advance equality of opportunity; and
· Foster good relations between people who share protected characteristics, and those who don’t.
As part of the PSED, the IFR includes equality considerations in any decisions we make.
IFR’s current agreed equality objectives are as follows:
1. In establishing its regulatory regime, the IFR will ensure equality considerations are appropriately considered at all stages of policy development and implementation.
2. The IFR will attract and retain a diverse workforce at all levels to become an inclusive employer of choice.
These objectives will be reviewed at least annually and will evolve as our regulatory regime is implemented.
