Information Gathering and Enforcement

This guidance explains the IFR's approach to using its Information Gathering & Enforcement powers. These powers help us gather the information it needs to carry out our functions, and to investigate and address breaches of the regime where necessary.

In particular, the guidance explains how we will look to engage constructively with clubs and others when using our powers to avoid unnecessary burdens, and how we use those powers proportionately, focusing on areas that best advance our objectives of protecting club financial soundness, strengthening financial resilience across English football, and safeguarding the game’s heritage.

You can read the final Information Gathering & Enforcement guidance, below.  The draft guidance originally consulted on by the IFR, and details on how we have addressed the feedback received in the final guidance, can be found on our Engagement Tool.
