Ian Rogers KC

Ian Rogers KC took silk in 2014 and has appeared in the Supreme Court, Privy Council and CJEU on many occasions. He has regularly been ranked by the legal directories as a leading silk in EU law, administrative and public law, and civil liberties and human rights. Much of his work has a commercial character. His body of work is varied and includes acting in the disputes between the UK and EU concerning the Northern Ireland Protocol, the Covid Inquiry, upholding the plain packaging of tobacco legislation and the Tobacco Products Directive and representing 800 judges to obtain pensions for part-time workers in O’Brien v Ministry of Justice. He sits as a chairman of the panel determining the claims of the group of postmasters who were part of the Alan Bates v Post Office Group Litigation Order, and has acted as an RFU Appellate Judge. He is a member of the Welsh Government’s Public Law Panel of KCs and served on the Attorney General’s A Panel until taking silk.
