Martin Coleman

Martin spent most of his career as head of the competition and regulatory practice at a global law firm where he acted for businesses, governments and regulatory bodies. Recently he has served as a member of the Board of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and chaired the CMA’s Panel of independent experts leading inquiries into major mergers and market investigations. Martin will chair the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority from July 2026. He was Deputy Chair of the Office for Students, the regulator for higher education, and has served as a board member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, The Economic and Social Research Council and Police Now.  He has written and spoken extensively on competition and regulatory law and policy and is a quondam fellow of Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge.
