Martin Stewart

Martin Stewart has 36 years banking and financial services experience, holding senior positions across multiple jurisdictions. He is currently Chairman at Danske Bank UK, Chair of Board Risk Committee at Coventry Building Society, Non-Executive Director at Co-operative Bank and an advisor to financial services investors and businesses.

Post the 2008 Financial Crisis, he became the Head Regulator for UK Domestic Banks, Building Societies & Credit Unions at the Financial Services Authority up to its abolition in 2013. He was part of the team that fundamentally redesigned financial services regulation in the UK and from 2013 to 2018 was Director UK Banks, Building Societies & Credit Unions at the Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Authority.
